Meet Alexa
Hello! My name is Alexa Stovold, and I am the Founder of White Willow Counselling. Ever since I was young, establishing safe and genuine relationships with my family and close friends has been deeply important to me. My desire to bond with others in a meaningful way followed me throughout my life, and guided my desire to obtain my Masters in Social Work (MSW) and my Masters in Community Psychology (MA) from the University of Wilfrid Laurier. I have been working in the field as a Registered Social Worker (RSW) for the last 9 years supporting individuals in the Kitchener-Waterloo, and Dufferin County communities.

In my therapeutic practice I operate from a non-judgemental, client-centred,
strengths-based approach and work hard to ensure that all clients feel safe,
supported, and understood. Throughout the counselling process I work
collaboratively with clients to explore precipitating factors, identify goals for
change, and develop a treatment plan tailored to individual needs. I have
experience working with individuals of all ages to address various concerns
including: anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief, stress, life transitions,

and relationship challenges. When working with clients I draw on tools and
strategies informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotion Focused
Therapy (EFT), and Attachment Informed Therapy. I understand the complexities of mental and emotional
difficulties and I would be honoured to have the chance to join you on your journey to self-exploration
and positive change.
